What is Sermorelin?
Sermorelin, a synthetic analog of the growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) naturally present in the human body, is a powerful tool used in both in vitro and in vivo studies. It consists of the first 29 amino acids of GHRH, with a molecular mass of 3357.9 g/mol. Despite its smaller size, sermorelin efficiently binds to the GHRH receptor, exhibiting a binding affinity approximately 50 times stronger than GHRH. In contrast to the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue (GHS) receptor pathway, sermorelin activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-somatotropic axis.
Endogenously, GHRH stimulates the release of human growth hormone (HGH) from the anterior pituitary gland. Sermorelin not only increases growth hormone levels but also extends the duration of growth hormone release. Its effects are notable, with a half-life of around 12 minutes, yet capable of stimulating growth hormone release for approximately 2 hours. In a study involving rats, intravenous administration of sermorelin led to a 17% increase in growth hormone release within 15 minutes compared to control subjects.
Moreover, sermorelin has demonstrated additional benefits. It has been shown to elevate insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels, enhance insulin sensitivity, and promote the development of lean muscle mass. In a separate study, sermorelin exhibited the ability to impede the growth of glioma cells in individuals with recurrent glioma. Specifically, it prevented the progression and division of glioma cells by interfering with the cell cycle.
While sermorelin shows promise in the treatment of growth hormone deficiency and other diseases/conditions, it is essential to note that this formulation is not approved for such purposes. Sermorelin is synthesized and commercially distributed solely for laboratory research endeavors.
Sermorelin is commercially available as a lyophilized white powder, typically provided in vials containing 5 mg of the substance.
Sermorelin Info Based off of Research
-
Increased Growth Hormone Production: Sermorelin stimulates the pituitary gland to release more HGH. This can lead to higher levels of growth hormone in the body, which may have several positive effects.
-
Improved Muscle Mass: Higher levels of HGH can contribute to increased muscle mass and strength. This makes sermorelin attractive to athletes and individuals looking to enhance their physical performance.
-
Enhanced Weight Loss: Sermorelin may assist in weight management by promoting the breakdown of fats and reducing body fat accumulation.
-
Better Sleep: Some users of sermorelin have reported improved sleep quality and duration. This can lead to better overall health and well-being.
-
Skin Health: Increased HGH levels are associated with improvements in skin elasticity, texture, and reduced wrinkles. This can contribute to a more youthful appearance.
-
Bone Density: Sermorelin may help improve bone density, which is important for bone health and reducing the risk of osteoporosis.
-
Enhanced Mood and Cognitive Function: Some individuals have reported improved mood, mental clarity, and cognitive function with the use of sermorelin.
-
Increased Energy Levels: Higher HGH levels can lead to increased energy and vitality, which can enhance one's quality of life.
-
Libido and Sexual Function: Improved HGH levels may positively influence libido and sexual function in both men and women.
-
Cardiovascular Health: Some studies suggest that HGH may have cardiovascular benefits, such as improved cholesterol profiles and reduced risk factors for heart disease.
-
Immune System Support: HGH can play a role in supporting the immune system, potentially enhancing the body's ability to defend against infections.
