Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide in the growth hormone–releasing peptide (GHRP) family. Researchers are interested in it mainly because it is selective: in preclinical work it stimulated growth hormone release with comparatively little effect on other pituitary hormones. This overview covers what ipamorelin is, how it compares with related compounds and what the research covers.
Explicit SARMs supplies Ipamorelin 5mg and Ipamorelin 10mg strictly as laboratory reference material.
What Ipamorelin Is
- Structure: a five-amino-acid synthetic peptide (Aib-His-D-2Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2).
- Target: the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), the same receptor GHRP-2, GHRP-6 and MK-677 act on.
- Class: a GHRP and ghrelin mimetic. It is not a GHRH analog like sermorelin, and it is not a SARM.
- Regulatory status: it is not approved by the FDA for any indication, and it appears on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list.
How It Compares
Early GHRPs such as GHRP-6 and GHRP-2 were also reported to raise cortisol and prolactin to varying degrees. Ipamorelin was characterized as more selective for growth hormone, and that is the main reason it is used as a comparator in GHRP research. It acts through a different receptor from sermorelin, which is why the two are often studied together to examine how the GHRH and ghrelin pathways interact.
What Research Has Examined
Most of the published ipamorelin literature is preclinical. It covers growth hormone release profiles, receptor selectivity and pharmacokinetics, and some work has explored gastrointestinal motility models. Clinical development for specific indications did not lead to approval. Treat mechanism and selectivity findings as specific to the models in which they were measured.
Sourcing and Documentation
Our products come from US domestic manufacturing with three-stage testing: two tests by our manufacturer, then an independent test by Accumark on our behalf. A lot-specific certificate of analysis is available on request through our contact page, and published results are on our lab results page. Record the lot number, COA reference and reconstitution details for every vial.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is ipamorelin a GHRH?
No. It is a GHRP that acts on the ghrelin receptor. Sermorelin and tesamorelin are the GHRH analogs.
How is ipamorelin different from MK-677?
Both act on the ghrelin receptor, but ipamorelin is a peptide and MK-677 is a non-peptide small molecule.
Do you provide dosing or usage guidance?
No. Ipamorelin is sold strictly for laboratory research, and we do not provide dosing, administration or usage guidance.
For single-peptide work, see the 15mg/30mL ipamorelin nasal spray.
