By Explicit SARMs Team
RAD-140 (testolone) and LGD-4033 (ligandrol) are both nonsteroidal selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs). Researchers compare them because they share a target, the androgen receptor, but differ in structure, origin and the published literature behind each one. This page sets out what the published research and the compounds’ reference data show, for laboratory research only.

What the literature covers
RAD-140 was designed and characterized preclinically by Radius Health, with tissue-selectivity data from rodent and primate models reported in its 2011 design paper (Miller et al.). LGD-4033 has a published clinical pharmacokinetics study (Basaria et al., 2013). Both are reviewed alongside other SARMs in Narayanan et al. (2018).
Structural differences
The two molecules come from different chemical series. RAD-140 contains a chlorinated benzonitrile core with an oxadiazole group, while LGD-4033 is a pyrrolidinyl-benzonitrile carrying two trifluoromethyl groups. These differences matter for researchers choosing a reference standard for receptor-binding or analytical work.
How Explicit SARMs tests these compounds
Our manufacturer tests it twice during production, and we use an independent third-party lab for purity testing. A COA is available on request.

FAQ
What is the main difference between RAD-140 and LGD-4033?
Both are nonsteroidal androgen receptor ligands, but they have different chemical structures, CAS numbers and developers, and a different body of published research: RAD-140 is mainly characterized preclinically, while LGD-4033 has a published clinical pharmacokinetics study.
Are RAD-140 and LGD-4033 on the WADA prohibited list?
Yes. Both are named in section S1 of the WADA Prohibited List.
What formats does Explicit SARMs supply?
Both are available as 90-capsule bottles at 10mg per capsule and as liquids, for laboratory research use only.
How are they tested?
Our manufacturer tests it twice during production, and we use an independent third-party lab for purity testing. A COA is available on request.
